Welcome to Term 3!

It’s going to be another fun-filled term, with Y7/8 Sports Camp next week, Parent Chat night, and Y9/10 New Zealand Sports Tour (Week 8), just to name a few activities.

We’ve had a busy week with both Open Evening and Option Evening taking place. A big thanks to all the students that helped out on the night, moving around 1000 people through our campus. Showcasing the school is best done by those immersed in it, so you were fantastic ambassadors for our school. Thank you.

Congratulations to the Year 10 Sports Academy students who competed in the Torpedo7 Get2Go Challenge last Thursday. It was an excellent day out with orienteering, paddleboarding, problem solving and a very muddy mountain bike course.

NZSO Young Soloists Showcase

Our singer-songwriter, Grace Allis (Year 10), has been selected for the NZSO (New Zealand Symphony Orchestra) Young Soloists Showcase concert. Grace composed and performed an original song with piano accompaniment, called “Tidy Floor”. The song will be orchestrated by the talented Daniel Hayles and will get to perform the song with the NZSO in a showcase concert on Wednesday 15 September at 7:30 pm, Alan Gibbs Centre – Wellington College. Congratulations.

Science Roadshow 2021

The Science Roadshow tours New Zealand every year, bringing science to life in the most incredible ways. On the last two days of Term 2 AJHS hosted the 2022 roadshow, and Year 8 classes had the opportunity to experience the most recent iteration which was set up in the PAC.

Clarification

Last edition we published an article about the success of our students at the Play it Strange Peace Song Competition 2021. We would like to clarify that the students that won the competition are from both AJHS and Westlake Boys High School, and that they are a part of the same band AMASZE.
