Badminton

Badminton is a growing sport at AJHS and is enjoyed by students from years 7-10. Students do not have to have any experience in badminton to get involved. There are opportunities for both experienced and beginners to take part in both the badminton club and the competitive competition.

Badminton Club:

We will look to start in term 2 subject to Covid restictions. This is an oppurtunit for students to come and have a go at badminton over 6 weekly sessions. 

Competitions:

We enter teams in the Badminton North Harbour Intermediate and Junior College Competitions which are played in term 3. The venue for the competition is either Badminton North Harbour, located in Bond Cresent, Foresthill or at Active Badminton located in Apollo Drive, Mairangi Bay. This is a team competition with a minimum of 4 players required in each team. Students play singles and doubles. Teams are selected from trials held at school. As we normally have a number of teams, all players that register will be selected in a team.

Junior Girls (Year 9 and 10)        Intermediate Girls (Year 7 and 8)

Days of Play from 2020: (2022 Days of play to be confirmed)

Year 9 and 10 Girls:  Wednesday       Year 7 and 8 Girls:  Wednesday

Year 9 and 10 Boys:  Thursday           Year 7 and 8 Boys:  Monday

Games are played from 4pm to 5.30pm.

Students wishing to take part do not need experience, they just need to be keen to learn and have a racquet.

Trials:

Trials for term 3 competition teams will be held in term 2. Trial dates and times will be advised to those who have registered.

Uniform:

Students must practice and compete in their correct AJHS PE shirt and AJHS PE shorts. Suitable non marking sports footwear must also be worn.

Junior Boys and Girls (Year 9 and 10)              $90

Intermediate Boys and Girls (Year 7 and 8)     $90

Compulsory Sports Administration Fee          $25.00 (Paid once only no matter the number of sports – this fee is non refundable)

COVID VACCINE INFORMATION:
Some organisations now have a policy in place that requires participants to be fully vaccinated. For each event we will provide details of the requirements on the registration form.
