AIMS Games

NZ AIMS GAMES 2021: 3rd-9th September 2022

NZ AIMS Games is a week long year 7 and 8 sports tournament held in Mt Maunganui/Tauranga each year. The tournament was first established to offer the students in the area the opportunity to increase their competition. This has now grown into the largest sporting tournament held in New Zealand with in excess of 11,000 students involved in 2019.

The sports codes being offered for NZ AIMS Games 2020 are:

Badminton Basketball BMX Canoe Sport Cross Country Football Futsal Golf
Gymnastics Hip Hop Hockey Indoor Bowls Mountain Biking Multisport Netball Para Sports
Rock Climbing Rugby 7’s Squash Swimming Table Tennis Tennis Water Polo Yachting

We endeavour to offer as many students that we can the opportunity to attend but teams and individuals will only be entered if we have sufficient student numbers and we have the availability of adults to coach and/or manage codes. In the majority of cases, students will only be able to participate in one code but these are all worked on an individual case basis dependent on the schedule.

To ensure that we give the students and adults the best experience possible, we do require significant help and support from parents. This would include coaching or managing teams, travelling to the AIMS tournament and staying in school accommodation and supervising students. Parents would also be responsible for leading any fundraising opportunities. Students, coaches and managers in all team codes are requried to stay in the team accommodation for the week. Each individual sporting code will differ but some will have the option to stay in their own accommodation with parents. Details will be advised once indication of numbers confirmed. The approximate cost for a student in a team is $750.00. These costs include accommodation, transport, entry fee, hoodie, food and incidental items. Costs will differ for students competing in an individual code that may not go for the entire week.

Organisation for AIMS Games starts in term 1 with the group all confirmed by early June at the latest. Please check back on this page, on the daily notices and AJHS facebook for information and opportuities to express interest for 2022.
