School of Opportunity

Kia ora koutou parents, caregivers, whānau and students,

It’s fantastic to see our students back at school after our online learning break. We would like to acknowledge the support of our community through the last week – it is greatly appreciated. With more teachers onboard at school, we hope to have minimal Covid disruptions as we move on with our term. We want to focus on the continuity of our teaching and learning as well as enjoy all the extra curricular opportunities available to our students.

Today, we celebrated Pink Shirt Day. As a school, we continually work together to stop bullying by embracing diversity, and promoting kindness and inclusiveness. In acknowledging this day, we join a nationwide aim to create a school community where all students feel valued, respected and encouraged to express who they are. We felt very proud to see the PINK pride and attitude of support in our school today.

We are looking forward to our first whole school assembly next week where we will have all our students and staff together for the first time this year. Our school song is being played this week as our school bell, on the hour. This is to both celebrate our AJHS song, and encourage our students to sing this together next week. We are very much looking forward to this occasion.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your ongoing support, and have an enjoyable weekend.

Take care whanau.
