Kia ora koutou parents, caregivers, whānau and students,
We hope you and your family have had a fantastic week.
Thank you for your kind messages of good wishes for my post surgery recovery. My time resting has made me even more grateful for so many things. During the pandemic, people have, in most part, been more intentional about reaching out and building relationships. The lack of face to face opportunities seems to have motivated many of us to not rely on chance encounters, but instead, make time for each other in small or more quality ways. This has been very evident in our school community, which we are very thankful for.
Due to the growing number of staff and relievers unavailable due to Covid-19, we have made the decision to roster home our Year 10 students for the last week of our school term. This will enable us to utilise teachers of Year 10 classes to assist with teacher relief. Thank you to all our Y10 students and their families for your support.
Despite our small pivots due to Covid-19, we have so much to celebrate across our school community, with continued rich opportunities for our students to learn and thrive. On Monday we had our Y10 Sports Academy class participate in the MacPac Rogaine Series, which is a team navigation challenge at Totara Park, South Auckland, and on Tuesday we had the Otago Junior Mathematics Competition for Y9 and Y10 students. Today, we conclude our week with our annual Whanau Celebration Day. AJHS is making it happen!
Thank you for your on-going support. Have a restful weekend and take care, whanau.
