Kia ora koutou parents and caregivers,

With our school plan in place for our school return next Wednesday 17 November, we feel assured that our public health measures are in place.

Here is a summary of our Health and Safety measures under Alert Level 3, Step 2:

Only students are permitted on school grounds from 8am – no exception
Lower numbers of students onsite each day
ALL students and staff wearing face masks each day – students must bring own mask
Well ventilated classrooms with appropriate outdoor learning spaces
Physical distancing where possible
Sanitising stations and hygiene protocols

AJHS Return to School Format:

This Monday and Tuesday: Online learning will continue from home with our current modified timetable.*

*Register your student here for supervision at school if they are unable to stay at home on their rostered days off school learning.

Year 7 and 8 Rostered Days at Home and Learners Continuing Online Learning:

Years 7 and 8 rostered at home, and learners continuing to remain at home for online learning, will need to follow the schedule below to connect with tasks assigned by teachers.

Teachers are not expected to conduct Google Meets, but will post assignments and connect with learners via Google Classroom. There will be no Friday Programme for at home learners.

Period Four	2:00-3:15

Absences: please notify the school via our school APP, to register your student absence with a short explanation. We will register your child with a special code. This must be done each day.

School Buses: These operate as normal.

Click & Collect Book Service

Our Library is offering Year 7-9 students who are returning to AJHS in 2022, the opportunity to borrow books using click and collect. With lockdowns and the uncertainty of class visits, we have opted to run this service until the end of November, when we will reassess the situation.

Students who wish to borrow library books can contact Mrs Ware with their requests (individual titles or genre) using the Request Form.

HPV immunisation for Year 8

The second HPV immunisation for Year 8’s that was scheduled for November 10th has been cancelled.

We are waiting for advice from Waitemata DHB on a plan to address this, and will communicate with you as soon as we have some direction.

Stationary 2022

From December 1st, AJHS student stationery for 2022 will be listed with Qizzle on www.schoolpacks.co.nz for you to order as a year-level pack. Students in Years 9 and 10, will have the ability to customise the order to suit the option subjects you’ve selected for 2022.

Refunds of Term 4 Subsidies

We understand that these are tough financial times for many, and have therefore decided to waive the term 4 subsidy for years 7 and 8. We are reviewing year 9 and 10 and will be in touch regarding these years subsidies over the next few weeks (towards the end of this year, when we know more about what is happening with the rest of the year from the Ministry).

AJHS School Student Vaccination Register

Thank you for the feedback about our student vaccination register for all eligible students. Following the new health order, all New Zealand schools have been asked to generate a school register for staff and student vaccinations. These registers are strictly confidential.
